CASE STUDY: AL-QABAS (KUWAIT)
Speed and customization. The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas expressed an urgent need to go online with their new “All News and Economic” channel. Deploying the .YES! platform, SI Media launched the channel in only four days. Under the delegation of Deputy Editor in Chief Mr. Abdullah AlMudhaf, and having years of experience using SI Media’s applications, Mr. Rami Karam, formerly the Director of Administration of another Kuwaiti television station, contacted SI Media for the project.
Al-Qabas, after careful consideration of the desired functionality, SI Media proposed it’s brand new .YES! platform, successfully installed at Telearuba in March. The customer needed to quickly implement a streaming channel with a simplified traffic and scheduling architecture that builds a playlist feeding a live playout stream. File ingest is directly managed and playout includes the option to insert a logo/watermark. With the playout system being purely IP-based the .YES! platform intuitively manages all the workflow in the Cloud and with support of SI Media technicians when needed.
The system was installed on a virtual server provided by Amazon Web Service (AWS) platform, opting for a very high-performance profile allowing the launch of the Al Qabas channel on the Al Qabas website with the ability to share it to YouTube channels, Facebook pages and Twitter. Thanks to great teamwork: sales, installation as well as remote training, SI Media fully satisfied the customer’s needs delivering impressive results in a remarkably short time.
The phase 2 of the project will begin soon, Al-Qabas TV is planning to broadcast Live on NileSat satellite next September. .YES! is a highly performing suite of products and is adaptable to the needs of the customer. After previous successes over a decade ago and asking for maximum yield in the shortest possible time, Mr Karam chose to rely on SI Media again for his new online adventure. SI Media confirms itself as a reliable market-leader in the industry.
